I RECENTLY PICKED UP A 1964 FORD GALAXIE,352,AUTO. WHEN I GOT THIS IT WAS RUNNING AROUND 1500 RPM.CHEKED THE TIMING AND RESET IT TO 10B. RAN PRETTY GOOD BUT HAD A WEAK SPARK.PULLED OFF THE CAP AND FOUND PETRONIX IGN AND FOUND SCORCH MARKS BETWEEN THE CYLINDER TABS ON THE CAP.I SET THE CRANK ON TDC ON COMPRESSION STROKE AND ROTOR WAS BETWEEN CYLINDERS. PULLED DIST AND GOT IT Alligned to #1. STARTED ENGINE WITH VACUEM ADVANCE DISCONNECTED.HARD STARTING ,WHEN IT DID TIMING WAS ABOUT 30 DEGREES AFTER TDC. RECHECKED EVERYTHING AGAIN ,SAME OUTCOME. DID THE TIMING CHAIN STREACH? BALANCER SLIP? ANY IDEAS APPRECIATED!

you dont need to plug the vac advance canister-- just the tube going to the carb

scorch marks on dis cap--change it--
after you got it started -did you retime it with a timing light -

un hook vac tube to dist. plug the tube--

put your timing light on it and set timing at 10 degrees befoe top dead center--engine at an idle -[about 600 rpms -- while still running hook hose back to the vac pod--
btw--make sure the vac hose is hooked to a ported vac stub on your carb-

ported vac -is the one that dosent have any vac untill you come off idle-- manifold vac has vac all the time-- they both are comeing off the bottom of the carb--
